House Republicans Launch ‘Energy Week’ to Lower Costs, But Impact on Economy Remains Uncertain

House Republicans have announced their long-promised ‘energy week’ in an effort to lower energy costs for families. Despite this, it is unlikely that these efforts will significantly impact the economy. Majority Leader Steve Scalise stated that the GOP would move bills on the floor to promote lower energy bills. However, some top lawmakers were unclear about the specifics of the week’s strategy. Energy issues were mentioned at the House GOP’s annual issues conference, which included gas prices at the pump, groceries for families, and foreign policy and national security.
