Bipartisan House members have approved a bill by Republicans that would prevent electric vehicles that contain material from China from receiving federal tax credits. The bill, H.R. 7980, was passed by a vote of 217-192, with seven Democrats supporting it. The White House has issued a statement opposing the bill, warning it would raise taxes and punish manufacturers without addressing climate change.
