House Judiciary Committee to Investigate Antitrust Concerns in ESG Investing Amid Growing Regulatory Scrutiny.

The House Judiciary Committee is set to hold a hearing on “Climate Control: Decarbonization Collusion in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing,” chaired by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky). The hearing aims to determine if existing civil and criminal penalties and current antitrust law enforcement efforts are sufficient to deter anticompetitive collusion to promote ESG-related goals in the investment industry. This comes as the House Financial Services Committee and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability have been leading efforts to combat regulations requiring financial managers to screen for climate risks.
