House Committees Advance Bills on Regulations and AI Following Supreme Court’s Chevron Decision Overturning Agency Authority.

The House Small Business Committee is set to mark up several Republican-led bills on federal regulations, including the “TAME Extreme Weather Act” and the “Regulatory Transparency for Small Businesses Act”. The House Science, Space and Technology Committee will also vote on artificial intelligence bills. The bills follow the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which gave agencies broad authority to interpret ambiguous laws. H.R. 8033, the “Regulatory transparency for Small businesses Act” from Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo), would require agencies to clarify that a rule would not have significant economic impacts on small businesses.
