The rules, published in May, set standards for how automakers can comply with Inflation Reduction Act requirements, including sourcing mandates. However, Republicans argue that the Treasury Department’s regulations against minerals and other components from “foreign entities of concern” gave automakers too much leeway. The resolution’s sponsor, Rep. Carol Miller, stated that the Department of Treasury had issued regulations contrary to the congressional intent of the law.
