House Committee Approves Bill to Overturn Biden’s Electric Vehicle Tax Credit Regulations Amid GOP Concerns.

The House Ways and Means Committee has approved legislation to overturn the Biden administration’s regulations for implementing the federal electric vehicle tax credit. The rules, published in May, set standards for how automakers can comply with Inflation Reduction Act requirements, including sourcing mandates. However, Republicans argue that the Treasury Department’s regulations against minerals and other components from “foreign entities of concern” gave automakers too much leeway. The resolution’s sponsor, Rep. Carol Miller, stated that the Department of Treasury had issued regulations contrary to the congressional intent of the law.
