House Agriculture Chair Glenn Thompson has promised to release a draft farm bill draft within a month and be ready for consideration before Memorial Day. This announcement comes as other top lawmakers are close to resolving a key issue, regarding climate-focused Inflation Reduction Act spending. Thompson (R-Pa.) stated that he has incorporated ideas from committee Democrats and believes the measure will attract votes from both sides of the aisle. The 2018 farm bill expired last year and Congress has extended it for a year.
