Honda has revealed that it is working on a CR-V hydrogen vehicle, a prototype of the popular compact SUV, and has released images of the vehicle’s hydrogen fuel cell model. The vehicle uses a fuel cell unit that converts liquid hydrogen fuel into electricity to power an electric motor. Unlike other hydrogen vehicles on the market, Honda’s new CR-Vs reportedly have plug-in capabilities, allowing drivers to plug in the vehicle to power up the small lithium-ion battery pack, which will also supply power to the electric motor and provide range anxiety for US customers due to lack of hydrogen refueling stations in the US. Production is already underway and the expectation is that these vehicles will be on sale later in 2024 in both Japan and the US markets.
