North American solar manufacturer Heliene Inc and Indian solar cell and module maker Premier Energies have partnered to establish a new solar cell factory in the US, with an annual capacity of 1 GW. The project will combine Helienes’ construction, project management, regulatory expertise with Premier’s expertise in cell technology engineering. Heleene currently sources solar cells from a US-based facility of Premier for use in module manufacturing at its site in Mountain Iron, Minnesota. The future facility will produce NTyp cells and serve local needs of the two partners. Additional details on the project’s scope and timeline will be announced shortly.
