Hecate Energy Secures Permit for $200 Million Solar Park in Virginia, Expected to Create 150 Jobs

Chicago-based renewable developer, Hecate Energy, has been granted a permit to build a 150-MW solar park in Cumberland County, Virginia. The project is expected to begin in 2028 and represent a significant infrastructure investment of around USD 200 million. The approval of the siting agreement and conditional use permit application was given by the Cumberland Board of Supervisors. The solar farm will be installed in Cartersville community across a site of almost 1,000 acres and is capable of generating more than 300,000 MWh of electricity annually, enough to supply over 37,500 average homes in Virginia. Heicate estimates that the project will bring USD 14 million in direct payments to Cumberland county and will create about 150 jobs.
