Technology firm Habitat Energy has secured a contract from the asset management arm of Swiss bank UBS Group AG (SWX:UBSG) to optimise a portfolio of 730 MW battery energy storage systems in Texas. The contract includes four projects expected to be commissioned from August to December 2024, and Habitat will use advanced AI-powered algorithmic forecasting and trading to advance the performance of the sites. This brings Habitat to 1 GW of ERCOT battery storage contracted and a portfolio worth over 2 GW. US energy transition-focused investment firm Captona has joined UBS to partner in a 728-MW/1.06-GWh portfolio in Texas, joining the UBS unit as a partner.
