GridStor Launches Largest Energy Storage System in Santa Barbara, Powering 30,000 Homes with Tesla Batteries.

US energy storage company GridStor has dedicated a 60-MW/160-MWh lithium-ion battery storage system in Santa Barbara County, California, as the largest power resource in the county. The Goleta Energy Storage site can power 30,000 households daily, and is equipped with 44 free containerised Tesla batteries. The project was funded by USD 55 million (EUR 50.8m) of project debt financing from Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (NORD/LB). The facility will support the existing 900 MW of operational wind and solar capacity in the region, and will provide grid reliability during the deployment of additional renewable energy projects over the next decade. Following the completion of the project, Grid Stor will continue providing resource adequacy services to Southern California Edison under a contract while operating the facility in response to market signals from the California Independent System Operator.
