GRICUA Enhances Transmission Reliability with Ductile Iron Poles After Severe Storm Damage in 2021.

Gila River Indian Community Utility Authority (GRICUA) experienced back-to-back severe monsoons and storms in 2021, resulting in the loss of over 50 poles and extensive damage to their transmission system. Following an engineering team’s assessment, GRICUA recommended immediate hardening improvements to their system and using ductile iron poles for greater reliability. McWane’s flexibility, availability, and competitive pricing were key factors in the decision. The company was able to deliver poles in 12 weeks and was the only supplier able to meet its lead time. Since installation in 2022, the reliability of the new transmission lines has significantly improved.
