Greenbacker Renewable Energy secures $437 million for wind farm repowering projects in Iowa and Minnesota.

US independent power producer (IPP) Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC has secured USD 437 million in financing for three wind farm repowering projects in Iowa and Minnesota. The company secured USD 81.5 million in construction bridge loan facilities from its existing lender BayernLB, and long-term debt and tax equity financing from Huntington National Bank via sale-leasebacks totalling USD 355.7 million. This is Greenbacker’s first financing deal using a sale-leasingback structure. The financing supports three wind farms, one in Minnesota, and another in Iowa, which have started commercial operation. The projects qualify for the existing 30% Investment Tax Credit for renewable energy projects and benefit from an additional 10% domestic content bonus for using US-made turbine components.
