Gov. Katie Hobbs Threatens Veto on GOP Groundwater Plan, Calls It “Beyond Unacceptable” for Rural Communities

Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has threatened to veto a plan by GOP state lawmakers to manage rural groundwater, calling it “beyond unacceptable”. Hobbs, who has prioritized updating the state’s regulations regarding groundwater use, has urged state legislators to overhaul the proposal. She stated that while proponents claim it will give rural communities a voice, it will silence them instead. If the legislation lands on her desk, Hobbs will refuse to sign it.
