Gov. Hochul Nominates Two Women to Reshape New York’s Public Service Commission for Climate Goals

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has nominated two women to the state Public Service Commission, which oversees the state’s gas, electric and water utilities. Denise Sheehan, a former commissioner for the Department of Environmental Conservation, and Uchenna Bright, an environmental advocate, are the nominees. This move is part of a strategy aimed at reshaping the commission, which will play a pivotal role in New York’s climate targets. All current commissioners were selected by then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
