Gotion Hires Lobbyist Amid Opposition to Federal Subsidies for Electric Vehicle Manufacturing in U.S. States

Chinese battery-maker, Gotion, has hired an in-house registered lobbyist, Donald Morrissey, as it fights to establish electric vehicle manufacturing plants in Michigan, Illinois, and California and receive federal tax incentives for its products. The move comes amid opposition to Gotion from lawmakers who are trying to block the company from federal subsidies. The legislation proposed by Republican Rep. John Moolenaar and incoming leader of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, H.R. 6175, would block Gotion’s access to Inflation Reduction Act credits.
