Global wind capacity to double by 2030, but falls short of tripling targets, report reveals.

A report by energy think tank Ember has stated that the world will more than double its wind capacity by 2030, but will fall short of tripling. The 2030 national targets are for 2,157 GW, an increase by a factor of 2.4 from 901 GW capacity recorded in 2022, and 585 GW short of a global tripling of wind. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has recommended that wind capacity should also triple to achieve this goal. However, this is expected to be largely due to China exceeding its national targets, while the rest of the world is predicted to under-deliver. The report highlighted sluggish wind growth in the US and India.
