GE Vernova Secures First Order for 16 Gas Turbines to Replace TVA’s Kingston Fossil Plant by 2028.

GE Vernova has secured its first order for 16 aeroderivative gas turbine and generator packages for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in a fast-track project to replace the 1.3-GW Kingston Fossil Plant in Tennessee with a 1.5-GW modern complex. The new plant is expected to deliver 850 MW when it begins operating in 2028. The order is an important first step for TVA, which announced in April it would retire the nine-unit coal facility in Roane County. The LM6000 gas turbines, launched in 1988, are well-known in the power generation industry for their quick start time, high cyclic life, and operational flexibility. GE Vernova’s LM6000VELOX packages will be introduced in October 2023.
