The Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has developed a pilot program to reimburse hunters for using lead-free ammunition in wildlife refuges. The proposal was developed through the Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Council, which helped develop the concept. The pilot program will select seven national wildlife refugees for initial testing. The committee, which provides recommendations to the Interior and Agriculture departments, suggested that other federal advisory panels could learn from their experience.
