H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies is working on the largest operational green hydrogen production plant in North America, SoHyCal, in Fresno, California, which will be powered entirely by renewable energy. The facility is currently producing up to one ton of hydrogen per day using biogas and electrolysis technology, and in its second phase, it will transition to using solar energy from a nearby photovoltaic plant. This will produce up to three tons of hydrogen daily, enough to power 210,000 cars or 30,000 city buses. The company expects this growth to spread across various sectors, including industrial use, transportation, and power generation. However, the industry faces challenges such as the development of infrastructure and financial models to support the hydrogen ecosystem.
