FortisBC Energy Inc. and VulcanX Energy Corp have signed an agreement to collaborate on developing hydrogen technology, specifically for the development of H2 pyrolysis technology. The agreement involves collaboration between the two companies to provide VulcanX with funding for a proprietary technology developed using FortisBC’s Clean Growth Innovation Fund in British Columbia, Canada. The method would use natural gas to produce H2 and solid carbon through methods based on natural gas, a fossil fuel. The aim of the agreement is to use this technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the goals of the province’s CleanBC strategy. The province is on board with the strategy.
