Fluence Energy Begins Domestic Battery Production in Utah, Secures Major Energy Storage Deal Amid Tariff Challenges.

US energy storage provider Fluence Energy Inc has begun domestic production of battery modules at a facility in Utah, enabling it to take advantage of the Inflation Reduction Act’s domestic content bonus tax credit. The battery modules will incorporate battery cells produced in Tennessee. The need for a strong domestic supply chain is highlighted by recent increases in Section 301 tariffs on batteries imported from China. Fluence has also announced a deal with Excelsior Energy Capital to install 2.2 GWh of energy storage projects across the US starting in 2025.
