FlexGen, a system integrator for battery energy storage system (BESS) assets in the ERCOT, Texas, has conducted several upgrades to its customers’ sites to meet changing power market regulations and new utility standards. The company claims that through field experience and R&D work at its new laboratory and compliance centre facilities, it has reduced the time required for such upgrades by about 75%. This comes as part of FlexGen’s strategy to onboard projects with its energy management system (EMS) and digital controls platform, Hybrid OS, in order to stay in compliance with the codes and parameters governing BESS assets. The firm’s CCO, Yann Brandt, emphasised the necessity of regular upgrades for energy storage projects, stating that every project will require regular upgrades.
