Mark Christie, the lone Republican on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), has defended his stance against four New York Republicans who had urged the commission to quickly finalize a proposal that could generate significant amounts of renewable power. Christie argued that it would be “grossly unfair” for FERC to force consumers in other states to pay for renewable projects that their local elected leaders never voted for. He also stated that he supports the people of New York or any other state in their right to choose energy policies regarding preferred power resources.
