FERC Chair Phillips Optimistic About New Permitting Reform for Power Lines Amid Meeting with New Commissioners

FERC Chair Willie Phillips expressed cautious optimism about Sens. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) and John Barrasso’s plan to reform the nation’s permitting process for new power lines. While FERC does not endorse legislation, Phillips expressed hope that the new permitting package unveiled earlier this week will be “a step in the right direction” towards speeding up infrastructure projects. The meeting also included the first time for FERC’s new commissioners Lindsay See and Judy Chang, who detailed their priorities.
