EPA Launches First Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to Strengthen Ties with Farmers and Ranchers

EPA has created its first-ever Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, aimed at addressing its relations with farmers and ranchers, a key constituency that has historically been a problem. The agricultural sector is a high priority for the EPA and deals with high-profile EPA regulations on what wetlands and streams fall under the Clean Water Act and ethanol-blended fuel. EPA Administrator Michael Regan announced the creation of the office at the 2024 Commodity Classic in Houston. Regan emphasized the importance of agriculture and rural stakeholders in delivering clean air and water and addressing climate change.
