EPA Administrator Michael Regan Highlights Media Relations and Pollution Cleanup Efforts at Environmental Journalists Conference.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan addressed the Society of Environmental Journalists annual conference in Philadelphia, addressing wide-ranging questions about civil rights investigations and pollution cleanup. Regan emphasized the importance of positive relations with the media as the agency continues to issue environmental rules and distribute billions in aid. He was the first EPA administrator to address the group since Mike Leavitt, who led EPA during the George W. Bush administration, spoke at SEJ’s 2004 meeting. He also mentioned the agency’s actions regarding “Cancer Alley,” a stretch of Louisiana land along the Mississippi River that is home to chemical plants and oil refineries.
