Three environmental groups are urging the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to review a final EPA rule that gave Louisiana top regulatory authority over carbon dioxide injection wells in the state. The groups, who will be represented by Earthjustice, are asking the court to hold the final rule unlawful and set aside any further relief deemed just and proper. The rule was implemented in December and is used to send CO2 underground into deep rock formations.
