Environmental Advocates Urge New York Assembly to Pass Gas Transition Bill Before June 6 Deadline

Environmental advocates are pushing for the New York Assembly to pass a gas transition bill, which would end subsidies for new gas hookups and enable plans to transition entire neighborhoods off gas. Other environmental bills include measures promoting wildlife crossings, making state buildings more bird-friendly, extending a tax break for green roofs in New York City. However, the distance between the Assembly’s budget proposal and environmental groups’ demands may be too large to bridge in the short weeks remaining. The session is set to end June 6.
