Energy Plug, Malahat, and Enwind Power Partner to Advance Utility-Scale Battery Storage for Microgrids in Americas.

Energy Plug Technologies, Malahat Battery Technologies and Enwind Power have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on research, development and product localization strategies for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) for microgrids. The goal of the MOU is to grow the microgrid industry in the North American and Latin American markets. Energy Plug, based in British Columbia, Canada, is currently developing a 20-kWh pole-mounted battery system and a 100-k Wh ground pad battery system. EnWind Power, a Taiwanese company specializing in power sciences and battery-based applications, will distribute the battery solutions to utilities and commercial and industrial operations. The battery storage systems will be critical to integration of renewable energy in power grids due to their resilience and ability to optimize energy use and reduce energy costs.
