Element Resources Inc, a Houston-based hydrogen production firm, has signed a surface lease agreement with mining company Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) allowing it to study the feasibility of building a green hydrogen production plant at its US Borax mine site in Boron, California. The agreement allows Element Resources to evaluate the commercial viability of the project. The proposed green hydrogen station will be of industrial scale and powered by a dedicated, co-located off-grid solar farm. This move is part of Rio’s commitment to decarbonization, with the company looking forward to working with Element Resources in collaboration.
