EDP Renewables Completes 200-MW Solar Park in Arizona to Power Meta’s Data Center, Supporting Sustainability Goals.

EDP Renewables North America LLC has completed its 200-MW Brittlebush solar park in Arizona, which will supply US tech conglomerate Meta Platforms Inc with electricity equivalent to the annual power consumption of over 32,000 homes. The project involved the installation of 500,000 bifacial, single-axis tracking PV panels across over 1,200 acres of land, costing over USD 250 million. The energy generated will support Meta’s operations of its data centre in Mesa, Arizona. The deal with utility Salt River Project aligns with Meta’s goal to reduce its carbon footprint by 82% by 2035. In December, Meta agreed to receive a majority portion of a 300-MW solar park owned by Denmark’s Ørsted A/S for its Mesa data centre.
