Duke Energy’s utilities in South Carolina are proposing new and enhanced energy efficiency programs to help customers save energy and money. The proposals, if approved by the Public Service Commission of South Carolina, aim to address the growing demand for electricity by delivering cost-effective energy savings. The pilot programs include a High-Energy Use Pilot, partnering with nonprofit agencies to supply energy improvements and home repairs where needed, targeting low-income homes with higher electricity use. The Tariffed On-Bill Pilot will enable customers to invest in energy efficiency upgrades that will be repaid through a monthly charge. Two new pilot programs aim for safer and more energy efficient homes in Sumter and Sumter County. The proposed modifications would expand the class of eligible customers and align the program across both utilities.
