Duke Energy has announced a pilot project in DeBary, Florida, to build an end-to-end green hydrogen production, storage and combustion site. The project, in collaboration with GE Vernova and Sargent and Lundy, will feature two 1-MW electrolyser units and use them to power a combustion turbine, running on a natural gas/hydrogen blend or up to 100% hydrogen. Construction is set to begin this year and become fully operational in 2024. Once completed, the project will be the first of its type to run on such a high percentage of hydrogen. The exact percentage hydrogen will be run on is yet to be determined.
