Irish renewable energy company DP Energy has received approval for its 325-MW Saamis Solar projects in Alberta province, Canada. The project, located in Medicine Hat, will become North America’s largest urban solar farm with over 600,000 solar panels spread across a 1,600-acre site. The company’s other projects in Canada include the proposed 200-MW Miyopiyiwin Wind project in Saskatchewan, and the 400-MW Nova East Wind project planned for the Nova Scotia waters. Construction is expected to begin in 2025.
