The Department of Transportation (DOT) has stated that a large oil export terminal proposed for the Gulf of Mexico is likely to have little impact on the emissions footprint of the overall U.S. crude oil supply chain. An assessment by the Maritime Administration stated that while greenhouse gas emissions associated with potential crude oil production and use of oil exported by the project likely represent a significant amount of emissions, most likely occur as part of the US oil supply chains. The analysis concluded that the proposed Texas GulfLink project would have little effect on these emissions.
