The $9.8 billion $10 billion $8 billion ($9.7 billion) offshore wind farm, being built by Dominion Energy, has received its final federal permit to raise more than 176 turbines off the coast of Virginia Beach. The project, which could power over 600,000 homes, was approved with an air quality permit from the EPA earlier this month. The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council was established in 2015 to coordinate federal environment reviews for infrastructure projects to avoid potential delays. Offshore wind farms currently represent almost half of the projects supported by the council.
