Dominion Energy Warns Customers of Increased Utility Scams Ahead of National Utility Scam Awareness Day on Nov. 15

Dominion Energy is urging customers to stay safe as National Utility Scam Awareness Day is Nov.15. The company warns that utility scammers never take a vacation and often increase in activity during the busy holiday season. The warning signs of a utility scam include a demand for payment via a credit or debit card, or a threat to service disconnection if a customer does not immediately respond to a call. Utility scammers often falsify their caller ID to appear as from a Dominion Energy customer service number. Customers should not allow individuals claiming to be Dominion Energy employees without proper identification, an appointment or a reported emergency.
