Dominion Energy Inc (NYSE:D) is set to expand its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project with a deal to acquire the Kitty Hawk North offshore wind lease area in North Carolina for USD 160 million (EUR 147.6m). The acquisition includes a payment of about USD 3,000 per acre for the nearly 40,000-acre lease and associated development cost reimbursement to Spain’s Iberdrola. The deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the acquisition of the lease being renamed CVOW-South. Once operational, Dominion expects the project to provide enough power to serve 200,000 homes and businesses.
