Dominion Energy has proposed more than a dozen utility-scale solar projects with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC). The company estimates that the projects will generate 772 MW of electricity, or enough to power nearly 200,000 Virginia homes at peak output. The projects will also help the company achieve the requirements of the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), which mandates that the state must derive at least 1% of its generation mix from solar energy. The cost of the projects is estimated to add approximately $1.54 to the average residential customer’s monthly bill.
