Delaware Legislators Pass Bill for Up to 1,200 MW of Offshore Wind Energy Procurement, Awaiting Governor’s Signature.

A bill allowing for up to 1,200 MW of offshore wind procurement in Delaware has been passed by state legislators and is now ready for signing by the governor. The Delaware Energy Solutions Act of 2024, referred to as the Delaware Energy Solution Act, was applauded by not-for-profit organisation Oceantic Network. The bill allows for the issuance of solicitations to procure at least 800 MW but not more than 1.200 MW, which can be purchased from a project only Delaware or in coordination with other states. The move will see Delaware join other East Coast states as an active buyer of offshore renewable energy.
