US renewables developer-operator D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) has successfully completed the commercial operation date of its 80-MWac Elektron Solar plant in Tooele County, Utah, marking the end of a years-long journey for the project. DESRI acquired the project from Enyo Renewable Energy in 2020 and started construction in 2021. The project will generate electricity under 20- and 25-year power purchase agreements with utility group PacifiCorp via its subsidiary Rocky Mountain Power. NORD/LB, National Bank of Canada, and City National Bank provided financing for the construction of Elekton Solar, while Goldman Sachs & Co provided the tax equity investment.
