Consumers Energy Launches Tree Removal Initiative to Enhance Reliability and Reduce Power Outages Over 7,000 Miles.

Consumers Energy is clearing and removing trees along over 7,000 miles of power lines as part of a stepped-up commitment to reduce power outages and maintain electrical equipment. The company’s Reliability Roadmap involves identifying electrical circuits where trees and vegetation most often cause power outage and prioritizing them. This year, Consumers Energy plans to remove trees from these circuits over a period of seven years. The long-term strategy aims to combat severe weather with upgrades in equipment, strategy, and technology to reduce the number of power outage, restore power to customers in 24 hours or less.
