Chaberton Energy Expands Community Solar Installations to Over 650 MW, Capitalizing on Favorable Policies Nationwide.

Chaberton Energy, a Maryland-based public benefit corporation, has seen a surge in its community solar installations, with 650+ MW sites across the country. The company, which launched in 2020 with community solar projects in the mid-Atlantic region, has since expanded its portfolio to include commercial and industrial installations. This growth is attributed to favorable solar policies in states across the US, particularly in Delaware. Community solar installations have grown from 85 MW cumulative in 2015 to 6.2 GW in 2023, according to Wood Mackenzie and the Solar Energy Industries Association. The market is expected to grow 8% annually between 2024 and 2028. Recent projects include Friendship, Crestone, Greyrock and Fuji.
