Canadian Solar Reports Q2 2024 Earnings: Revenues Drop 30% Amid Falling Module Prices, Shares Fall 15%.

Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) announced its Q2 2024 earnings report, which saw a 15% drop in the company’s share price drop following the release of the earnings report. The company posted $1.64 billion in revenues, largely in line with Wall Street expectations, but this is down from $2.36 billion in Q2 2023. The decline in revenues was attributed to sharply falling global solar module prices. Total module shipments for Q2 2025 were up 30% quarter-over-quarter and remained consistent year-overyear. The firm’s total module shipments were up by 30% and 135 MW were shipped to its own utility-scale solar power projects. The solar project development arm, Recurrent Energy, expanded its total development pipeline to 27 GW of solar and 63 GWh of battery energy storage, as of June 30, 2024. The 17.2% gross margin was also recorded in Q4 2024, with e-STORAGE order backlog growing to $2,6 billion.
