California Lawmakers Propose Shrinking Climate Bonds Amid Diverging Priorities for Clean Energy Funding Ahead of November Ballot.

California state lawmakers are working on climate bond scenarios at a range of price tags, which indicate significant differences in how the Assembly and Senate are prioritizing clean energy funding. Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and state Sen. Ben Allen, authors of their respective climate bonds, have said they plan to shrink their proposals, each north of $15 billion, with the help of working groups in each chamber. The draft numbers indicate different approaches, with Assembly mapping out potential bonds with $10 billion, $8 billion and $6 billion price tags. There are several spending bonds vying for the November ballot.
