California Assembly Speaker Rivas Forms Special Committee to Tackle Gas Price Spikes Amid Legislative Controversy.

California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas has named 19 members to a special committee to address legislation to reduce gasoline price spikes. The committee includes three Republicans, two Democrats, and 16 Republicans. Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, the chair of the Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee, will lead the new committee. The special session was set up after Rivas pushed back on efforts by the administration and Senate to skip committee hearings and pass a bill authorizing new regulations for gas refineries.
