California and Biden Administration Urge Supreme Court to Uphold State’s Emissions Standards Against Fossil Fuel Interests.

California and the Biden administration are urging the Supreme Court to reject a bid by fossil fuel interests to overturn California’s authority to set stricter emissions standards for cars and trucks than the federal government. The state Attorney General, Rob Bonta, and EPA argue that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit correctly ruled that industry challengers and Republican-led states have failed to prove that their harm was caused by California’s Clean Air Act waiver. They argue that California’s waiver is allowed due to its extensive regulation and unique pollution challenges.
