BOEM Completes Environmental Assessment for Offshore Wind Leases in Central Atlantic, Sale Planned for Later This Year.

The US Department of the Interior’s (DoI) Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has completed its final environmental assessment (EA) of impacts from issuing offshore wind leases in the Central Atlantic, off the coasts of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The EA found there would be no significant impacts from lease issuance, including site assessment and site characterisation activities such as geophysical, geological and archaeological surveys. The next step is for BOEM to hold a sale later this year. A final sale notice (FSN) will be issued at least 30 days in advance of the sale, specifying the time and date of the lease sale and qualified participants.
