BLM and FWS Directors Face Tough Senate Hearings Over Public Lands and Budget Controversies

The directors of the Bureau of Land Management (BLC) and the Fish and Wildlife Service are likely to face tough questioning at two Senate hearings. The Energy and Natural Resources Committee is set to hold a hearing to “conduct oversight” of BLM, focusing primarily on public lands management policies, renewable energy, and oil and gas development. The Environment and Public Works Committee will examine the FWS’s fiscal 2025 budget request. The hearing with BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning is expected to be the most contentious due to recent bureau decisions that have led to backlash from Republicans and ENR Chair Joe Manchin.
